GS1 Polska is the Polish branch of the global, non-profit organization GS1. The organization develops and maintains global standards for business communication, including product identification and code assignment. GS1 also allows companies to create Global Location Numbers (GLNs), which are unique identifiers assigned to legal, physical and functional locations worldwide. GS1 Polska supports the local implementation of GS1 standards in Poland.

Project Details

Project GlobLOC is Poland’s only regularly updated list of location parameters, accessible to all actors in the supply chain.

The registry originally contained basic information, such as an address or geolocation. STX Next was tasked with creating an app that would include additional data, such as opening hours or facilities at site. The improved app would allow end users to have a fuller picture of transport networks. It would also help drivers in their daily work by providing them with all the necessary information and allowing them to access data offline.

Challenge

Since the application was intended to be used mainly by drivers, GS1's objective was to ensure it was intuitive and easy to navigate. The company approached STX Next to help create the app with the best UX design principles in mind.

Given the nature of drivers' working conditions, one of the key requirements was to allow the end users to access recently viewed entries while offline.

When it comes to the GLN register, STX Next is probably the most informed software house.

STX Next held discovery workshops to help GS1 refine the product specification and design. During the workshops, we were able to jointly establish milestones, polish a product vision statement, create an initial backlog, and select the best tech stack.

STX Next has designed and developed the final product.
